To all of you who had a special and intimate relationship with Valerie: We met a zillion years ago at the lunch counter at Woolworths in Willimantic when she introduced herself to me as another new mom, (your Brian and my Becky). We spent time together as new moms and Valerie moved on to raise her children and further her education and career; something I wasn't able to do. Once my children were raised, I moved on and secured a position at UConn where I once connected with Valerie and had conversations over the years. The last time we spoke was sometime last year and she had me in stitches. I left UConn as of 9/1 and had no idea of her passing until today. She is an inspiration to me and will always bring a smile and chuckle when I think of her. I hope you all know how many lives she had impacted. Thank you so much for sharing her. Regards. Val was one of the most positive and supportive people with whom I have ever worked. Over the 12 years I served on the Dean's Council in Neag, I always sure of one thing. When Val had something to say, you knew she was a voice of reason, always placing the interests of the School and the students above all else. She was the perfect colleague. My deepest condolences go out to the family she loved so very much. Carl Maresh

To Valerie's family, I knew Valerie while my husband worked at UCONN in the Department of Kinesiology. In my encounters with her, both professionally and personally, she was truly kind, enthusiastic and friendly. Though we did not cross path frequently, she had a place in my heart due to her kindness and sincere spirit. Please accept my most sincere condolences and deepest sympathy for a lovely life that left us too soon. All of you are in my prayers for your peace.

I will never forget our friendly chats and your wonderful sense of humor. Whenever we spoke I always felt a little bit better for it because you were so uplifting, smart, caring and wise. Rest in peace.

Hi Val, its only me. I miss you already. I will also miss our phone calls, our laughs, and you putting me on hold while ordering your coffee at the drive-thru window. We will miss our deep secrets we had. It will tough not to have those laughs, and especially when you, Patsy and I are together wetting our pants. I think we are the only ones that keep the underwear company in business(ha ha) Take Care, say hi to everyone, and I am sure on St. Patrick's Day you will all be enjoying corn beef and cabbage and Nana Lennox will have her cold glass of beer singing her tunes, "Go, Go Antonio" Remember? Love you, Shirley

You welcomed me to Connecticut and we reminisced about Rhode Island many times. I will always treasure your wit and strength and remember you fondly. Prayers and peace to your loved ones.

I worked with Val during my senior year at UCONN several years ago. She was a fiery, strong, powerhouse of a woman and she was everybody's mother. She was both the hurricane and the calm at the center. She was my friend and I've missed her. Today, I miss her a little more.

For eight great years, we worked side by side. For eight great years, you were always there for me. For eight great years, your no nonsense straight talks led me through many obstacles and challenges.

I will never forget our lunch room laughs, behind closed door chats, and your mentorship. Me and "my NCATE" will always remember you!

Neag School has lost a strong pillar, and UCONN has lost a forever loyal member of its family.

Thank you for all you have done for us.

I am so sad for the loss of Valerie Pichette. In the Spring of 1991 I took courses toward a certificate at Quinebaug Valley Community College, and she was one of my instructors. The following semester, Fall 1991 I became her co-worker, as the Clerk Typist. We had some much fun working together, especially when I was pregnant with my third child, I was in pain and she was afraid I was going to have the baby right there.

My deepest sympathy to her family. May she rest in peace.
