Violet Danis Obituary

Violet Ruth (Mahaffy) Danis, 88, died on Friday (February 14, 2003) in Bristol. She was born on March 24, 1914 in Madison, ME a daughter of the late James A. and Ola (Micue) Mahaffy. A Bristol resident for most of her life, she was one of 17 children and was the wife of the late Joseph A. Danis, Sr. Her gentle and soft caring ways will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She was a member of the Bristol Baptist Church for over 75 years and was the manager of Spencer Shoes, she retired form Bradlees in 1979. Violet leaves behind her dearly beloved children and their spouses, Joseph A. Danis, Jr. and his wife Fern Danis of Boones Mill, VA; Sylvia F. Fuller and her husband Frank Fuller, Sr. of Terryville; James P. Danis and his wife JoAnn Danis of Bristol; Kathleen D. Williams and her husband Graham Williams of Plainville and Steven L. Danis. She also leaves nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother, Carroll Mahaffy of Southington, a very special daughter-in-law, Carol Maheu of Bristol and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at 10 a.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville with the Rev. Robert Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at West Cemetery, Bristol. Family and friends may call at the funeral home TODAY, Feb. 17, from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either: Bristol Visiting Nurse Association, Maltby St, Bristol, CT 06010 or a charity of the donor's choice.
