SCULL, Joseph R.
Joseph R. Scull, age 93, a longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband of 68 years to the late Veronica Repko Scull, passed away peacefully on Thursday, (October 6, 2011) at home. Born on July 21, 1918 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Marguerite McCollough Scull. He served with pride and honor in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Joe was an accomplished tool and die maker for many years before teaching his craft at Bullard Havens Tech in Bridgeport and Platt Tech in Milford. He was a mentor and a roll model for many young people and had a passion for coaching and refereeing for many youth leagues in Milford. Joe enjoyed golfing with his friends in his spare time, but was devoted to spending most of his time with his family. He was a kind, loving and caring individual who will be greatly missed. Joseph is survived by a daughter Linda V. Scull and her husband James Powers of Atlanta, GA, two sons, Jeffrey Scull and his wife Mary Treat of Niantic, CT and Paul Scull and his wife Carol of Devon. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Melanie, Meghan, Paul and Michael Scull, five great grandchildren, his brother Monsignor Edward Scull and his sister Mary Anne Dolan both of Milford and many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Cleary.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, (October 10, 2011) at 10:15 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Avenue, Milford. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Milford, CT. Friends and family may call on Sunday, (October 9, 2011) from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CT Hospice - Home Care, 2 Trapp Falls Road, Shelton, CT 06484. www.codywhitefuneralservice.com.
