Margaret COLLI Obituary

COLLI, Margaret "Peg" (Linehan) Margaret "Peg" (Linehan) Colli, 89, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife for 63 years of the late John "Jack" Colli, passed away on Monday, (January 10, 2011), peacefully in her sleep. Peg was born April 26, 1921, in Haydenville, MA the daughter of the late Grace (Larkin) and Thomas Linehan. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Wasseluk and her husband, Stephen of Burlington, Patricia Colli of Port Royal, SC, Thomas Colli and his wife, Deborah of Montgomery Village, MD, Jacqueline Colli of Las Vegas, NV, Elizabeth Colli and her husband, Jon Montigny of East Granby, Kenneth Colli and his wife, Mirna of Darien, Judy Colli and her husband, David O'Connor of Windsor, John Colli, III and his wife, Barbara of Andover, Margaret Colli of Windsor Locks and David Colli and his partner Marc McAllister of Guilford, VT. Peg is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Susan Wasseluk, Stephen and his wife, Amy Wasseluk, Peter and Tracy Montigny, Christian, Christopher and Kenyon Colli, Shauna Colli and Jake Colli; great-granddaughter, Lucy Wasseluk; and in-laws, Ramon and Sandra Colli, Robert Colli; nephew, Scott Whitted and the Pitkin Clan. She was predeceased by her cousin, Barbara Pitkin of Hartford. Peg graduated from Williamsburg (Mass.) High School '38, St. Joseph College, '42, and she pursued her masters degree at (Case) Western Reserve University. She worked as a medical social worker in NYC and at Hartford Hospital prior to starting her family. And then her life's work began in earnest - raising her 10 children and spoiling her nine grandchildren. One week before her 89th birthday she joyously welcomed her great-granddaughter, Lucy. Peg lived her faith as a daily communicant at St. Mary Church. She made her home the hub of her large family, where six generations gathered for every holiday and any excuse for a party. She loved having her kids' friends hang out at the house, and a few extras at the dinner table was the norm. These teenagers grew up to be her lifelong friends who considered Peg to be their "other mother." In her "spare" time she was a prolific scarf and mitten knitter, a master of crossword puzzles and an avid reader of mystery novels. For a nice Irish gal, Margaret Mary Linehan's spaghetti sauce recipe was loved by half of Windsor Locks. Peg loved a good conversation right up to the end. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, January 14, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will gather by 10 am on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Peg may be made to St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096. Though I have not seen Mrs Colli in almost forty years, I remember her vividly and warmly - her smile, her warmth, he unfailing good sense, and equally consistent good will. A wonderful woman and mother with wonderful children, each one of them unique - testimony to her own uniqueness and concern for individuality. Her family (esp children) and friends are in my thoughts. Vincent Colapietro (State College, PA)
