DOWD, Donald A.
Donald A. Dowd, 87 of Avon and Middletown, died quietly at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown on Saturday (February 2, 2013). He was born on September 30, 1925 and was predeceased by his wife, Ann Skorka Dowd, his stepson, Cullen J. Dowd and a brother Dr. Wilbur Dowd. He enjoyed the care and support from their friendly staff and his new family at the "Village". Don was a devoted husband, father, uncle and great uncle. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was very patriotic. Don would start each day saluting the flag and reciting the pledge of allegiance and he did this up to his death. Don is survived by his nieces and their families, Kathy and Jeff Guerrette and Susan and Mark Guerrette, all of Bristol; a nephew, John Dowd of Sherwood, AR; and a special friend and neighbor, Linda Keith of Avon.
