Joseph E. DOUGLAS

Joseph E. Douglas 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, (December 16, 2013) at West Hartford healthcare surrounded by loving family members. He was born in Panama but moved to Jamaica with his mother, Gracie Johnson, when he was five years old. He was the oldest of 11 children. He migrated from Jamaica to Hartford in the late 1960s. He worked with the Hartford Public school system until he quit to work as an independent painter. He was always a diligent and meticulous worker. Looking for a warmer climate, Joseph and his wife moved to Florida in 1983. He was instrumental in assisting many to migrate to the US to pursue their dreams of having a better life. He is predeceased by his beautiful and loving wife, Dorothy I. Douglas. Joseph leaves four children Kyceta "Cureen" Dawkins, Winston Douglas Sr, Charles B. Douglas, Stevonner "Gracie" Douglas Fuller, two brothers Stanley Johnson, Mushay Johnson and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family members.
