Marcus BORDIERE Obituary

BORDIERE, Marcus H.

Atty. Marcus H. Bordiere, 81, of Berlin passed peacefully from this life surrounded by his family on Thursday, (July 11, 2013). Marc was born and raised in New Britain, son of James N. and Helen (Kaenel) Bordiere. He attended St. Mary's School, graduated from New Britain High School in 1949, received a BS from Boston University , and served for three years as a lieutenant in the Naval Reserve during the Korean Conflict. He received his law degrees from New England School of Law and Suffolk Law, both in Boston. He married Patricia Kiniry in 1957, worked as a claims adjuster and they raised their five children on Monroe Street. During the 1960's, Marc commuted to Boston at night to attend law school and passed both the Massachusetts and Connecticut Bars. He opened his law practice on Grove Hill in 1969 and practiced for more than 40 years. From 1975 to 1979 Marc served as State Representative from the 24th district during the time when Ella Grasso was governor and he was active in local politics throughout his career. He also enjoyed sports with his four sons and sponsored the team, "Bordiere Travel", of the Hartford Twilight League in the early 1980's. The family moved to Berlin in 1989. Besides his wife of 56 years, Pat, he leaves five children and eight grandchildren, Janet Connolly (Ryan and Katelyn) of Essex; Michael Bordiere and his wife Lisa (Mikayla and Matthew) of Kensington; Marcus A. Bordiere and his wife Jennifer (Carolann) of Farmington; Christopher Bordiere of New Britain; and Craig Bordiere and his wife Leslie (Gabriella, Brian and Tyler) of Southington; a brother, John Bordiere of Farmington; two sisters, Shirley Sansone and her husband John of New Britain; and Gladys Sylvia and her husband Joseph of Waterford; several nieces and nephews. Marc was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lizabeth Bordiere; two brothers, Richard and James Bordiere and a sister, Josephine Milstone. Marc received his greatest joy from his grandchildren for the last twenty five years. He also looked forward to meeting with his breakfast pals at the Washington Diner. For the last two years he courageously battled leukemia and in all his determination he remained active until the time of his death. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital especially the 7NP outpatient clinic and the staff of the dialysis unit at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, for all their care and support. Papa will be dearly missed by all those who love him.
