MAUSER, William Anthony, Jr.
William Anthony Mauser, Jr., 90, of Glen Allen, VA, formerly of West Hartford, beloved husband of Arlene Mauser passed away Friday (June 14, 2013) at his home in Glen Allen, VA. Born April 7, 1923 in New York, NY son of the late William A. Mauser, Sr. and Pauline (Barnard) Mauser. He served in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant during WWII as a "hump pilot". The Hump was a high altitude military aerial supply route between the Assam Valley in northeastern India across northern Burma to Yunnan province in southwestern China. Bill was a general contractor in the Hartford area for several years. He and his father developed Bishops Corner in the 1950's. He retired to Virginia in the 1980's. Besides his wife, Arlene, he is survived by his five children, William, III of N. Stonington, James and his wife, Kate of Nantucket, MA, Whitney Mauser of AZ, Catherine Mauser Worth of Avon, Wendy Mauser Moores of Brookfield; two stepchildren, Lynda Plummer and Julie Fisher of VA; eleven grandchildren, William and Emily Mauser, Chet, Trevor and Scott Barrett, Justin, Alex and Spencer Worth, Nicholas, Aidan and Stephen Moores. He also leaves several great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his former wife, Jaclyn Russell, the mother of his five children.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 23, 2013, 3 p.m., at Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St. (Rt. 10 & 202), Granby. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
