FABIAN, Benjamin "Buddy" Mr. Benjamin "Buddy" Fabian, 73, of Main Street, formerly a long time resident of Hartley Drive Waterbury, died Saturday (October 7, 2006) at The Highlands Health Care Center of Cheshire. He was the husband of Joan A. (Dance) Fabian. Buddy was born in New Haven on September 6, 1933, son of the late Joseph A. and Rachael (Sarro) Fabiano. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean War. He started his long food service career as co-owner with his parents in the North End Sugar Bowl and Fabian's Apizza and Hot Oven Grinders in Waterville. He then opened Fabian's Restaurant on Chase Avenue, now the location of the Castle Restaurant. He owned and operated Fabian's Sandwich Shop on Meriden Road for many years. Later he ran Fabian's Snack Bar in Laurel Lanes in Plainville and last he owned and operated Fabian's Deli & Sandwich Shop on East Main Street until his retirement in 1996. After his retirement he worked at StayWell Health Center in Waterbury for four years until July of this year. He was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge # 265 of Waterbury and the Sons of Italy in Southington. He was a communicant of the Church of the Epiphany in Cheshire. Besides his wife of 50 years he leaves a son Stephen Fabian and his wife Kris (Maillet) Fabian of Southington; a brother, Anthony Fabiano of Florida; a sister, Mrs. Lorraine Buonocore of Watertwon; two grandchildren, Rachael and Benjamin Fabian of Southington. Funeral will be Tuesday, 9:15 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway to The Church of the Epiphany for a mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Calling hours Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the StayWell Health Center, 232 North Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702.
