Earl Putney Obituary

Earl W. Putney, 98, of Middlewoods, Farmington died at the University of Connecticut Health Center on Wednesday (July 30, 2003). Born in Hartford, Oct. 31, 1904, he was the son of William and Beatrice (Moison) Putney. He lived in New Britain, before moving to Plainville in 1945. He moved to Farmington in 2001, he also spent many pleasant summers in Old Saybrook. He was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1924, of which he was an active alumnus. He attended Hillyer College and was employed by the New Britain Machine Co. for 33 years before retiring in 1970. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara J. Maynard and son-in-law, George B. Maynard of Old Saybrook; three grandsons, Barry E. and David J. Maynard of Old Saybrook and Mark M. Maynard of Roxbury, CT. He was known as "Grandpa" to a great-grandson and three great-granddaughters. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Earl donated his body to the University of CT Health Center for medical research and education. A memorial service will be held at his church, The Plainville United Methodist Church, 56 Red Stone Hill, Plainville on Fri., Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to "The book of remembrances", c/o the Plainville United Methodist Church.
