Joan ABELOVE Obituary

ABELOVE, Joan (Elbaum) Joan (Elbaum) Abelove, of Hollywood, FL passed away on Thursday, (December 23, 2010) at Memorial Hospital in Hollywood following a short illness. She was born in Boston and grew up in West Hartford where she attended Kingswood-Oxford School. She was a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and became an accomplished artist represented by galleries in New York and Coral Gables, Florida. Her paintings are on display in various museums. She was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Paul Elbaum, and is survived by her brother Jerry Elbaum of West Hartford, nephews Steven Elbaum of Trumbull CT and Richard Elbaum of New York City, niece Patricia Fox of West Hartford and her former husband, Dr. William Abelove of Weston, Florida. Interment was private in Fort Lauderdale. Contributions in Joan's memory may be made to the Elbaum Family Fund, Jewish Endowment Foundation, 333 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford CT.

Dear Jerry,
What a beautiful girl Joan was, beauty and talent all in one. We still enjoy a work she created that we purchased early in her career. May she be rememberd in her works,and for her spirit.
