MALONEY, Lorraine (Keefe) Mrs. Lorraine (Keefe) Maloney, 78, of Canton, died peacefully Wednesday, (October 26, 2005) in the loving care of her daughter, Kary. She was the widow of Richard E. Maloney. Mrs. Maloney was born December 22, 1926, in Quincy, MA a daughter of the late John and Alice (Collins) Keefe and she was a graduate of Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA. Her true love was Dick, the World War II Air Force Gunner, hard charging Connecticut Prosecutor, following him to Fort Collins, CO before finally settling in Connecticut. Her passion was her eight grandkids, two sons and two daughters, all referring to her as "Nom". She loved the Cape and spent as much time as possible holding court on the deck, conducting the young ones as they undertook various activities while anxiously awaiting birthdays, graduations and weddings. Lorraine's loving presence and encouragement was the texture of the family. She leaves two daughters, Karin V. Moody of Hawaii, Kary K. Apanovitch-Foss and her husband, Steve of Middlebury, two sons, Richard E. Maloney, Jr. and his wife Mary Pat of Willington, Greg J. Maloney of South Windsor, a sister, Doris McLeod of Atlanta, GA and eight grandchildren. Funeral and burial are private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450. The Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury, is in charge of her arrangements.

To: Lorraine's children; I remember fondly the times your mother took 3 of you kids & one of mine in her station wagon in 1960.She taught me how to drive, 'cause I was moving to the "boonies" (New Hartford) from Canton.Today I can't imagine NOT being able to drive. Thanks to my old neighbor on Dyer Ave. I get around very well these days. Your mother will be MISSED.
