SNOW, Olcott Vail "O.V."
Olcott Vail "O.V." Snow, 85, died Tuesday, (August 28, 2012), at the Life Care Center, Plymouth, MA after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Therese (Elliot); six children, Barbara Bryant and her husband Roger of Lakeville, MA, Sean Snow and his partner Sharon Conlin of Tolland, Olcott Vail Snow and his wife Anne Marie of Avon, Audrey Barresi and her husband Paul of Hanover, MA, Gail Moraski and her husband Jay of Braintree, MA, and Maria Snow and her partner Michael Gratzer of Del Ray Beach, FL; and seven grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth Zembruski, Nicholas, Andrew, and Angelique Snow, and Matthew and Joseph Barresi. He also leaves three nephews and two nieces. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Worthing Porter Snow. O.V. was born on August 17, 1927 to Worthing Vail and Hazel (Porter) Snow in Bristol, CT. He served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Klondike, stationed in southern California. After his discharge from the Navy, he remained in California to study business administration. Upon returning to Bristol, O.V. married his school sweetheart, Therese, and they opened an office furniture business. After several years, O.V. moved this business to his well-known location at 1019 Farmington Ave. Before long, O.V. discovered he had a flair for selling real estate, so the office furniture business gave way to commercial real estate. Over the years the business, O.V. Resources, has been involved, at different times, with renovations, building and selling houses, and commercial and industrial sales. O.V. celebrated his 55th year in business in Bristol in 2010, remaining active in the business until his recent illness. O.V. was active in the community, serving on the boards of Bristol Hospital and the Carousel Museum. As a member of Bristol Rotary for more than 40 years, O.V. served as President of Rotary, received the Rotary's highest honor, the Paul Harris Award, and was named Rotarian of the year in 2005. The highlight of his Rotary career was leading the campaign to raise nearly one half million dollars to complete the handicapped-accessible playground in Page Park. O.V. was a born sailor who enjoyed every opportunity to be near the ocean. He inherited his mother's love of music and her artistic ability, which he expressed in the many creative gifts he made for his wife and children. He and his wife Therese traveled the world together, often with several of their lifelong Bristol friends. His happiest hours were spent in the company of his family.
A funeral service will be held Friday, August 31, at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 31 Maple St., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol. Family and friends may call at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Thursday, August 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Bristol Rotary Club, P.O. Box 1674, Bristol, CT 06011-1674. The Snow Family invites you to send a condolence message in O.V.'s Guestbook at www.dupontfuneralhome.com.

OV was a fellow veteran and nice person. I remember having some good conversations with him. It seems like just yesterday I was blowing off the leaves in his yard to try out the new backpack blower I bought. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Sincerely,
Dana

O.V. , was a special person. Kind, unique, interesting, loved by many, and helpful to so many. I wish I could've spent more time with him and his family. I will forever treasure the moments I was lucky enough to spend with them. Godspeed O.V....until we meet again.

Dear Theresa, Barbara, Sean, Olcott, Audrey, Gail, Maria and Family.
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of O.V. I just found out on Sunday. I'm sorry I missed the funeral service. I stopped by the office a few times in the past five years wondering how O.V. was doing but kept missing him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this most difficult time.
Sincerely,
Dana
