Peter A. Hamm

1935 - 2016

Peter Alvah Hamm Sr., 80, of Manchester, passed away on January 12th in Las Vegas, NV. Peter was born in New York City, NY to Alvah and Rose Hamm on December 21st 1935. The family later moved to Maine and finally settled in Farmington, CT where Peter attended high school in Avon and graduated in 1954. He went on to earn a degree in agriculture from the University of Connecticut. Peter worked for Arbor Acres farm in Glastonbury for over 40 years. An active member of the LDS church, Peter was known and loved by many in the community. He will be remembered for his sharp wit and sense of humor. Peter loved to spend time with his family as well as play as much golf as could fit into his busy schedule. An avid sports fan, he mightily supported the New York Giants and Boston Red Sox. Over the years, Peter accumulated and enjoyed watching an extensive collection of movies with his wife of 43 years, Meri, the love of his life. Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Alvah and Rose Hamm and his sister, Phyllis LaPointe. Peter is survived by his wife Meri of Las Vegas, NV as well as his children: Philip, Melissa, Jennifer and Steve Heath, Peter, Abby and Steve Zajac, Mandy and Josh Eger, Terry, Melanie and Keith Ferry. He had 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 30 Woodside St., Manchester on March 18th at 11:00am.
