Ron EIGENBROD Obituary

EIGENBROD, Ron
Ron Eigenbrod, 59 - avid adventurer, outdoorsman, gentleman farmer, and founder & CEO of Lightstat, Inc - died suddenly at his New Hartford home on Christmas Eve of a heart attack. Born on April 12, 1952 in Hanover, NH, Ron lived the first few years of his life near the farm of his maternal grandparents in Woodstock, VT before moving to Suffield, where he grew up and attended high school. After graduating from the University of Connecticut in Storrs in 1974, Ron worked for several years in the energy industry before founding his own company in 1983, Lightstat Inc in Pleasant Valley. Lightstat quickly grew to have an influential presence in the energy conservation industry and sold its light-activated temperature control systems to customers internationally. A passionate conservationist and an active member of the New Hartford Land Trust, Ron spent much of his spare time outdoors, hiking, skiing, and working on his farm. He especially enjoyed the time spent on his tractor. He and his company Lightstat were involved in matching gifts to United Way. He will be remembered as a bold and lively soul unencumbered by conventions or the elements, his kinetic and daring spirit always full of life. His absence will be felt, and his jovial personality will be missed. Ron was a kind and loving husband, brother, and uncle, instilling the spirit of exploration in all those around him. Ron leaves his wife, Ginger (Panikoff) Eigenbrod, of New Hartford; his sister Roxanne Eigenbrod Zak and her husband Michael, of Concord, MA; his two nieces Adrienne and Marianna, and brother David McCarthy; and many other loving family members and friends and his two cats Tiggie and Buddy.
Services will be held at the North Congregational Church in New Hartford on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford has care of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory can be made to the New Hartford Land Trust or Animal Friends of CT. Visit an online guestbook at Montano-shea.com.

There are stars whose light reaches the earth only after they themselves have disintegrated. And there are individuals whose memory lights the world after they have passed from it. These lights shine in the darkest night and illumine for us the path.....

It was truly a shock to hear of Ron's passing. Although I did not know him very well, it was always a pleasure to visit with him at the various trade shows we both frequented. Ron was a true gentleman. Please accept the condolences of everyone at Novar Controls. Ron will surely be missed.

Ginger:
I was so saddened to hear of Ron's passing. Guitar Center has been a customer of Lightstat for years and have always thought him as a dear friend more than a just another vendor we did business with. Our heartfelt condolances go out to you and your family during this difficult time.

I am very sorry for your loss. Ron was one of the most genuine, knowledgeable and gentlemenly leaders I have known. He was always looking out for others both personally and professionally. He will be greatly missed, but demonstrated to many of us the right way to live with enthusiasm, energy and joy. I know I am a better person for having known him and the way he lived.
