CLEARY, Maurice Joseph Maurice Joseph Cleary, 92, of Granby, beloved husband of the late Anna T. (Dulak) Cleary, passed away on Monday, (September 14, 2009) at McLean Home in Simsbury. Born and raised in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Patrick F. and Mary (Downey) Cleary, he moved to Granby in 1991. Maurice was a graduate of Manhattan College in the Bronx, NY, and was an accountant for Spence Chapin Services. He served his country as a fighter pilot in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the China Burma Theatre. Maurice was a communicant of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church in Granby. He is survived by four sons, William J. Cleary and his wife Maria of Parsippany, NJ, Joseph M. Cleary and his wife Karen of Granby, Thomas F. Cleary of Londonderry, NH, and James A. Cleary and his wife Barbara of Hamilton, OH; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Gregory, Jeffrey, Desi, Katherine, Stephanie, Joanie and Emily Cleary. His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 17, 10:15 a.m., from the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Therese Church in Granby. Burial will follow in Granby Cemetery. His family will receive friends Wednesday, 4-7 p.m., at the funeral home. The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself … any man’s death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
