Robert L. "Casey" Blake Jr.

September 27, 1927 – March 31, 2018 Robert Leslie Blake, Jr., affectionately known as Casey, departed this world peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Saturday, March 31st. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara (Clark) Blake. Robert was born September 27, 1927 in Hartford, CT to the late Robert Blake, Sr. and Lula (Dent) Blake. He was educated in the Hartford public schools system, graduating from Hartford Public High School. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946 and served as a Private in WWII. He enjoyed a successful career as a salesman with Brescome Barton Distributors for 40 years, retiring in 2010. Robert was actively involved in the Hartford community. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and held various executive positions with the Carpe Diem Fraternity, where he was the permittee for fifty years and a member for sixty years. Robert met and married, Barbara Ann Clark, in 1957. The couple traveled throughout the United States and Europe; and enjoyed regularly hosting and entertaining family and friends in their home. Robert loved many different genres of music, and was a jazz enthusiast, as well as a connoisseur of good food and fine wines. Robert is survived by his daughter Wendy Blake; brother-in-law, Sidney Pierce (Richelle) of Rhode Island and their three children, Jessica, Sidney, and Jeremy. Two "special" daughters and their families, Eyvonne Parker-Bair and Tamara Moreland. Special life-long friend Roosevelt Terry of Hartford, CT. Cousins Millicent and Glen Gill, Chara Gill and Jason Gill of Windsor, CT. Caregivers Avis Hamilton and Andre Mayers. And a host of loving relatives and friends. Besides his wife and parents, Robert, was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Pounds and his sister Margaret Reddy. Funeral Services will be Monday 11 am at the The First Congregational Church of Bloomfield 10 Wintonbury Avenue Bloomfield with visitation from 10 am. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill with Full Military Honors. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 5 pm – 7 pm at the All Faith Memorial Chapel 90 John Fitch Blvd South Windsor.
