Joseph N. Spring Sr.

SPRING, Joseph N., Sr. Joseph N. Spring, Sr., age 82, of Black Point Rd., Scarborough, ME, passed away on Sunday evening at the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough. He was born in New Britain, on Dec. 6, 1927, a son of Joseph and Florence (Nelson) Spring. He attended UMO and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He was commissioned a Lieutenant and spent many years flying helicopters. Mr. Spring worked as an engineer in the ballistics department at Raytheon- developing advanced missile systems during the Cold War. He was a member of the Concord Rod and Gun Club – Pistol Team and enjoyed boating, taking walks with his dog on the beach, and refinishing furniture. He is predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Griggs) Spring and a brother Richard Spring. Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph Spring Jr. of Boxboro, MA, Wilbur Spring of Kensington, and John Spring of Buxton; daughters- Margie Ray of Ashby, MA, and Elizabeth Andexler of Andover, ME; and 13 grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held this Saturday at 1 p.m. at his residence, 453 Black Point Rd., in Scarborough, ME.
