Brooke JOSEPH-BANKS Obituary

JOSEPH-BANKS, Brooke

Mrs. Brooke Joseph-Banks, 43, of 55 Partridge Run, Bristol, formerly of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly Sunday (August 28, 2011). She was the wife of Mr. William Banks. Mrs. Joseph-Banks was born June 16, 1968 a daughter of Paul Landau of Pittsboro, NC and the late Patricia Blackmon. Brooke as she was known was educated in the Waterbury public school system, graduating from Wilby High School Class of 1986. She continued her education at the University of Bridgeport where she received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and later in 1997 she received her Master's Degree in Biology from Central Connecticut State University. In 1997 she also became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse through the Hospital of St. Raphael's School of Nursing. She had been employed by Hartford Hospital since 1997 where she worked until her passing. Brooke was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a Christian woman, raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in South Norwalk where she grew up as a young child prior to moving to Waterbury with her family. She was a member of Hope Seventh Day Adventist church in Bloomfield, CT where she worked tirelessly seeking souls for the Kingdom. She was a phenomenal cook and an avid nature lover who enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Brooke as beautiful as she was on the outside cannot compare to the beauty she carried on the inside. She ensured that all of those around her felt loved, cherished and welcomed. She will be missed dearly. The countless memories of her will warm our hearts forever. She was a ray of radiant light. Her eternal legacy will live on through her husband, children, family and friends. It has been almost a year since your passing, and just today I found one of the many beautiful cards you sent to me. You always knew, almost intuitively, when those closest to you needed your kind and gentle words. Today was one of those days, and you knew, again. Thank you Brooke. Love you and miss you.

IT's been 9months and reading these heart felt entries brought me to tears just like it happened yesterday. I first met Brooke @ 13 or so. She was My cousin Billy's beautiful girlfriend then. I'm 40 now, over the years she has become so much more, the Godmother to my son, Someone my daughter just loved to be with. and for me the older, wiser, down to earth sister, cousin, friend and mentor! I Love her Dearly. She was an Angel on earth and the good thing is WE all saw that. So I think we did good by Brooke!

Brooke and I sang together in a small gospel group back in the 80s. We recorded a song at that time "Will You Be Ready, When Jesus Comes" I will always remember the beauty in the voice of the person so beautiful. I will cherish the memories of rehearsal time always. I am just learning of Brooke's untimely passing and am in total shock. Although I had not seen Brooke in many, many years her beautiful demeanor, love of nursing and singing does not escape me. Our sincerest condolences go out to Brooke's entire family.....May she forever be remembered as the loving, caring person that she was. God bless you all. Mechelle & Keith Spence

Bill, Jordan and Jacoby,
So many words running through our minds as we write this and none of them seem to express the sorrow that we have in our hearts for all of you. Brooke was, and will continue to be such a wonderful light in all our lives. We will remember her always with her light-up-the-room smile, her sassy attitude and her warm hugs. May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of God. Know that the three of you are in our prayers now and always.

With Love and in Friendship,
The Kane Family - John, Tracy and Courtney

I was shocked to read that Brooke had suddenly passed away. Although Brooke was not a personal friend of mine, I always remembered her kindness and radiant smile during the delivery of my first and only child, a beautiful boy at Hartford Hospital in 2002. Brooke is in our delivery video reassuring me that I have a beautiful baby and that I would be a great mom.

To her husband and sons; you had a great wife and a wonderful mother. I know she is still watching over all of you with love and affection.

Dear Bill,
I was a fellow CRNA at St Vincent. I called her Brookie and she called me Jeffie. We had many lunchtime discussions about politics, religion and life. I bet her that Barack would not be elected--it was one election cycle too soon for America to elect a black president. Obviously, I was wrong, but Brookie never gloated. She was the personification of class. Miss her.
