DEMOS, Jonathan
Jonathan Demos, born April 7, 1984, with hope, much promise, and great joy. He spent all his years in West Hartford growing from a loving boy to a thoughtful, caring, kindhearted man. He was quickly and cruelly ravaged by an illness that took his hope, stole his promise, and destroyed his joy. He leaves behind many loving hearts that will not mend soon. We pray that he will find the peace he so desperately wanted in the warm embrace of the mother he loved and lost so many years ago. He is survived by his wife Kathryn Guthrie Demos; his father Peter Demos of West Hartford; his sister and brother-in-law Sara and Daniel Avery and their son Charles of West Hartford; his aunts and uncles: Barbara and Richard Flores and their children Anna and Alex, Marsha and John Harris and their daughter Pamela; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean Guthrie and Ed DeGroat; and his brother-in-law Brian Guthrie.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 5-8p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or online at www.cancer.org/donate. I knew Jon at work as a very passionate Engineer, with a tremendous amount of team work. He loved his work and took great pride in what he was doing.He's a true technical expert who loved working with state of the art lab instruments, gadgets and materials at work. May god bless you . As someone who went to school with Jon I can honestly say that he had the most joyful spirit and upbeat sense of humor. I will always remember him for these things. May he forver rest in peace.

I went to school with Jon and he always knew the right things to say. I can not imagine how everyone is feeling at this time. Just please try and keep all of the great times near your heart . Jon will be missed .

Peter and Sara...it just seems to be so unfair when a family is struck with as much sadness as you have seen over the years. We are here for a short time and each in his/her own purpose leaves a special mark. As I fondly remember Marilyn, I too hold special thoughts of Jon when all the kids were swimming together. I taught at Braeburn school many years ago when Jon was in kindergarten. He was in the class across the hall from mine but I will always remember him and his twinkling eyes. May the gift of time help to ease your sadness during this most difficult time. With deep sympathy.

Nobody was quicker with the witty comebacks to my sarcastic humor then Jon.. He always had the best advice and the best jokes.. On behalf of Principal/Chief Administrator Margaret Williamson and the entire Northwest Catholic High School community, I offer my very deepest sympathy on the passing of Jonathan Demos.
Because his sister, NWC English teacher and Director of Theater Sara Demos Avery, is a cherished member of our school family, we feel that Jon was, too, and our hearts are broken along with all those who loved and will miss him.
We are hugging Sara and her family -- especially her dad Peter; her husband Dan Avery '97 and their son, Charles; her sister-in-law Kathryn; and her aunts, uncles, and cousins -- very tightly this week, and will keep all of them very specially in prayers in the difficult days and weeks to come.
We are desperately sad about your loss, but we join you in celebrating Jon's beautiful spirit and pray that he now has the peace he so rightly deserves.

It is with great sadness that I read the notice in today's paper. I remember Jonathan's mother, Merilyn, and her pride in both her children. I remember Jonathan's wonderful smile and demeanor. Life's promise cut short. My sincere condolences to the entire family.
