When I hear certain songs on the radio I think of the concerts and other wonderful times we had together. Gone much too early. Rest In Peace mate.

Cousin John, I think of you every week at mass, and pray for you. You have left us your legacy of three wonderful young men. You were a terrific father, and a wonderful cousin. I loved your sense of humor and your intelligence. But you were never pretentious, always jovial. May your memory be eternal.

Every time I hear a Janis Joplin song on the radio I am instantly transported back to Boston where John and I got to see her perform. So many great memories of wonderful times that John and I had together. Hard to believe he's been gone for six years. Still miss him.

Missing you my dear beloved cousin. I can't believe it has been six years. So many wonderful events that are poignant because of your absence. Life goes on, but not without remembering you charm, your intelligence, your sense of humor and your compassion for others.

I've known John (or "Andy" as we often called him) since 1963 when we entered religious life as novices. We were full of enthusiasm, high ideals and dedication to youth work. For Andy, that seems never to have changed. My life is richer for having him as a friend.

I enjoyed working with John for quite a few years at CSC. When he retired, it was a loss for CSC and his co-workers although we were happy for him. To this day I miss working with him and miss his enthusiasm, willingness to help, and knowledge of so many things. I am thankful he stopped in and visited earlier this year - it was so nice to see him again. I am so sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of working with John as a contractor to CSC. John always had a positive we can get it done attitude. We had the opportunity to go on several fishing trips and other outings together and John was a great guy. He will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with John and his family.

Beloved cousin, you were an inspiration to us in so many ways. We have many wonderful memories of times we spent together tubing down the Farmington River, eating at the Publick House, constructing the Cedarworks playscape, Eagle Scout ceremonies for Marc and Michael…there are no words to describe how how greatly we mourn for you or how much you will be missed.
I am comforted to know that you are in a better place. Farewell sweet Prince.

I am so sorry for your loss. John worked near my office at UTRC. On his way out, he would stop at my office doorway to remind me not to stay too late. That was John, running late himself, yet always concerned for others. May his kindness inspire us to pause during our busy days to take care of each other.

I got to know John through Troop 156. We spent many hours together over the Boy Scout years and we continued to meet for pizza, hikes and bike outings along with other Boy Scout Dads after our sons finished. I will never forget our memorable Sea Base sailing trips and roaming Key West together. John you will be truly missed by all that had the privilege to know you. My sincere condolences to your family during this difficult time.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I'm the diamond glints on snow...
I'm the sunlight on ripened grain..
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
i am the swift uplifting rush
of gentle birds in circling flight ..
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry----
I am not there... I did not die....

John and I met while in the Salesians at don Bosco College in the mid '60s. He was a great guy, good student and athlete and a good friend. We had the joy of meeting up again after 40 years in the group of former Salesians he helped start at several reunions. My last meeting with John was in 2009 at the Boston reunion.
He will be missed by many. My condolences to his wife and children, and the entire family.

John and I have not talked in 40+ years, but to me he is still the awesome, enthusiastic 20 year old during our Newton days. I am inspired to know that his entire life reflected the values that all of us aspired to in our youth. John lived the spirit of Saint John Bosco. Amen to a beautiful life. John Vetter (classmate)
