Having just learned of Bob's passing, I was moved to tears. He was such a force of life. He had great wit, sense of humor and generous kindness. I had such respect and admiration for him, and he had a soft spot for me...a young hick from Texas. He was amused by my goats, cows and my simple life. I send my condolences to all that knew and loved Bob. John, Marc and Candace, I know you miss him. I haven't spoken to him in years, but I have never forgotten your dad. I will always remember him with love.

Dear Green Family,
We are sorry for your loss. We met Bob when we first moved to CT. He was a wonderful man and caring person. And his calm manor and smile always made us feel special in his company. It was always a pleasure to deal with Bob on a personal & professional level. He will be truly missed.
God bless you and your family.

To me, Bob Green was the face and personality of Lux Bond & Green. I remember years ago I met Bob for the first time in their Pratt Street store in downtown Hartford. His warmth and personality lit up the store. He made me feel so welcome, and I was just a kid. Bob believed that you should never judge a book by it's cover. He used to tell me wonderful stories of people who entered the store, and how they would open up to him and his employees (Bob treated them all like family.) and pour their hearts out.
And LB&G would always have the perfect treasure to go along with whatever your story was, even if you only had a few bucks. And they'd always put it in that priceless gold box. That's how they probably came up with the line..."Every box has a story". Bob and his team always made time for their customers, and they still carry on his legacy to this day. One of my most wonderful memories of Bob was when he asked me to work with LB&G on their radio advertising. He wanted me, because he felt that I "knew radio". THAT was a huge compliment. Bob always felt that it was a warm way to talk to people. "Get people over the threshold resistance" that could come over someone when they approached the store. It was personal, one to one. LB&G always treated everyone the same. Bob believed that if you treated people equally, with or without the big bucks, they'd be a customer / client for life.
Some of my favorite times with Bob, were when we'd go into the recording studio to have Bob voice their radio commercials. And what a voice! His commercials ran in Boston, CT and NYC. And the wild thing was, he was such a natural pro. One of the best voices I've ever heard. His personality and sincere warmth always came across. And it never took him more than a 1/2 hour or so to record all of the commercials that he needed. But he would never leave the studio until he felt that it was the best, and we assured him that it was the best.
Then he'd stand up and say..."Well I'm outta here!" and walk out of the recording studio. Well,I could ramble on about what a wonderful friend and role model he had been to myself and I'm sure so many others. Bob....you left an amazing legacy. Your spirit and caring ways certainly carry on through John and Marc, as well as the rest of your family. Thank you for giving so much for our country, as well as your family and friends.

John and Marc. Our thoughts are with you, and I hope many pleasant memories. He was always the gentleman, a great neighbour, and he left a mark in the community for others to follow. Just as he followed his Dad.

Marc and John, many condolences on the loss of your wonderful father. Whenever I felt low during my years at Jewelers of America, I used to look at his photo on the wall of our offices, and think with reassurance of the dedication he had bestowed on the industry, and the goodness he had created in creating both of you. I can only imagine how his goodness sustains you now. My thoughts are with you. With affection, Peggy Jo
