Lloyd Bruce Wilhelm

Lloyd Bruce Wilhelm, age 86, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Joyce Bengtson Wilhelm, passed away peacefully on Monday March 2, 2015 at home with his devoted daughter by his side. Mr. Wilhelm was born in Windsor the son of the late Oscar and Marie( Westermann) , and was a Connecticut resident most of his life. He raised his family in Middletown. He was a retired 4-H Extension Agent for Middlesex County for 35 years until his retirement. He was instrumental in developing Connecticut's participation in the Foreign exchange program and the Camp America Camp counselor program. He was a leader in the establishing and the purchase of the 4-H Camp in Moodus, CT. Mr. Wilhelm was an avid Gardner and loved to share his knowledge and passion in growing fruits and vegetables and his knowledge of animals. Lloyd spent many joyous years on the family farm working along with his brother. He was a graduate of the University of CT were he received his BS and MS degrees in Agricultural education and also did post graduate work at Boston University in Adult Education. After his retirement he moved back to Bridgeport and then he and his wife moved for a period of time to Lee-summit, MO. He later returned back to Bridgeport to live with his daughter Beth and be reunited with his family and many friends. Lloyd will always be remembered fro his great smile and love of singing, he would bring smiles to so many who lives he touched. He is survived by his devoted daughter Elizabeth Wilhelm Goodale, of Bridgeport and his son Charles Wilhelm, of Reseda, CA. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday March 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the First Congergational Church, 219 N. Granby Rd, North Granby.
