Machelle Neiditz Obituary



Machelle "Maish" Neiditz, 98, of West Hartford, died peacefully with family by his side, on Thursday March 31, 1016. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Max and Esther (Nahum) Neiditz. He was a graduate of Weaver High School and Yale University, Class of 1940. He was a US Veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corps as a B-17 Navigator in the European Theatre of Battle. After the War he attended the Executive Training Program of Jordan Marsh. Then he and his brother started the Neiditz Brothers Furniture in Hartford. He was an active member of the Young Israel of West Hartford and the Yale Club of Hartford. Maish was active in West Hartford town politics and served as member of the Town Council and the Town Planning and Zoning Board. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by two sons; Joel I. Neiditz and his wife Margo Custer of Boston, and Michael Neiditz of West Hartford, two sisters; Hinda Fisher of West Hartford and Sipah Shapiro of Burlington, Ct., and two cherished grandchildren; Ben Neiditz of Philadelphia and Ari Neiditz of Chicago. He was predeceased by his beloved first wife Bernice (Cohen) Neiditz, his brother Herman, and his sister Shirley, and his beloved partner of many years, Florie Arons, for whose grandchildren he served as honorary grampa. A funeral will be held on Sunday April 3, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Hebrew Home and Healthcare, 1 Abrahms Blvd., West Hartford, with Rabbi Daniel Braune-Friedman officiating. Interment will follow at the Jewish War Veterans Cemetery, Cleveland Ave. extension off of Tower Ave., Hartford. Following interment, the family will return to the Hebrew Home and Healthcare to receive friends and share in a meal of condolence. The family will observe a private period of mourning. Donations in memory of Maish, may be made to the Hebrew HealthCare in West Hartford. May his memory be a source of strength and a blessing.
