Joseph Mordica Obituary
Hattiesburg, MS
Services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church for Joseph Payne Mordica, 24, of Hattiesburg.
He died Friday, September 28, 2012 in Hattiesburg.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Joseph was the Leasing Agent for the Reserve Apartment Complex, a member of the Catholic faith, and a student at U.S.M.
He is survived by his parents, James and Sandra Mordica of Hattiesburg; grandmothers, Rosa Lee Mordica and Evelyn Gosa both of Hattiesburg; a sister, Hannah Mordica of Hattiesburg; three aunts, Sarita Wallace of Jackson, Anita Young of Quitman, and Patricia Storgill of Fairfax, VA.
Memorials may be made to The Southern Pines Animal Shelter.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg and 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church.

I am a resident at the Reserve and have only known Joseph for a few months. He was one of the main reasons I chose the Reserve when I toured it with him. He had the most honest and caring personality. As a manager he wasn't just polite and made small talk, he genuinely wanted to talk to you and get to know you. He would always ask me how my previous weekend went and what my plans were for the next weekend and always told me about his plans. Every time I went to the office I would hope he was there. I will miss him very much. I hope he rests in peace and is happy since I know he brought happiness to many people.

May the peace that only Jesus Christ can give be with your family and wrap each of you in His arms to give you comfort during this time. It's very obvious Joseph had many very good friends and was well loved. I taught Joseph in middle school at Hillcrest in Jackson in 7th and 8th grade. Joe was roommates with my husband when he was still at Mississippi State University. We became very close back then. He was such a wonderful, loving, and funny person that loved to make us laugh. I will miss him so, so very much.

Joseph will be missed by so many. He was one of my favorite people in the whole world. He could make anyone laugh and was always the life of the party. I don't think I have ever met anyone who didn't instantly fall in love with Joe.

Goofing off around the neighborhood with Joseph and Hannah is one of my fondest memories of growing up. It is a tragedy that he will not be able to make an impression on more people as prominently as he did on me. My sincerest condolences to you Mr. Jimmy, Ms. Sandra, and Hannah. I will always remember Joseph as a fine young man. I still remember the year Joseph & Jaimee went to the Homecoming Dance.:)I am so glad that I got to know you all, Jimmy, Sandra & Hannah, as a wonderful family through our years in the band. I do know what you are going through, and although I know there are no words that can truly be spoken to comfort you now, I do know that God will always be there with you. Joseph loved The Lord and he loved you all AND you all loved him....and that is what will help you get through day by day.
