I had the pleasure of watching him play in 1965 for the Toledo Mud Hens. He was very popular among the fans that year for his accomplishments.

He was the best basketball jump shooter that I have ever seen, then and now. I saw many of his games at Hattiesburg High, and Southern Miss, and had the privilege one time of practicing shooting with him at HHS gym in the early 50's. His dad, Smokey, was always at the games on the upper rows of the gym. He was, without a doubt, the best to ever play at HHS.
May he rest in peace.

We moved to Hattiesburg from California in 1966. Micky and Neeley's horse and pony farm was next door to our home in Glendale. They were the kindest and most welcoming people that we have ever known. Our wives shared a passion for horses that led to summer camps for kids and a training ring built by hand from railroad crossties by Micky and me plus memories that will last a lifetime!
Micky was a gifted athlete and even provided our oldest son an introduction to Mack Brown and a full football scholarship at Tulane University. He was equally dedicated to equine sports, an unavoidable commitment given two beautiful daughters with access to ponies at an early age.
His loss leaves a huge hole in our memories but he will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace, old friend.
