DECATUR - Bruce N. Carmean, 79, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 2:20 A.M., Monday, May 16, 2011, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Sharon United Methodist Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M., Wednesday, May 18, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church or EAA Chapter #274 Train-A-Pilot. Bruce was born March 3, 1932 in Oak Park, IL, the son of Florus Henry "Tony" and Buerryl L. (Kelly) Carmean. He married Marilyn Utz in 1959 in Illiopolis, IL. He later married Beverly A. Gulick on September 30, 1995 in Decatur, IL. Bruce was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. He was a podiatrist for 43 years, retiring in 1998, and was a pilot, having worked on 2 home built airplanes. Bruce enjoyed working with old cars and model trains, and was a former marathon runner, running in the Boston Marathon 3 times. He was a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter #274, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife Beverly of Decatur, IL; daughters Lisa Lampkin and husband John of St. Peters, MO, Mary Cassell and husband Mike of Forsyth, IL, Teresa Simpson and husband Steve of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren Katie, Shannon, Michael and Daniel Lampkin, all of St. Peters, MO, Guerin Cassell of Forsyth, IL; sister Carol Maurer and husband Ron of Hopedale, IL; one niece and one nephew.
