John Stapleton Obituary

CLINTON - John Houston Stapleton, 81, of Clinton, died 4:45 a.m. Sunday (May 1, 2011) in OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton. Memorials: Clinton Friendship Center or Second Chance Pet Adoptions. Send condolences to www.calvertmemorial.com. Mr. Stapleton was born Nov. 20, 1929, in DeWitt County, the son of Clarence R. and Leona Dailey Stapleton. He was the owner of Stapleton Transfer, Clinton, for 58 years. He married Mary Sandra Sullivan on July 28, 1979, in Clinton. Surviving are his wife; children, Steve Stapleton and wife Debbie, Doug Smith and wife Dana, Derek Smith and wife Debbie, all of Clinton; Stan Stapleton and wife Tracy of Wabash, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
