Mary Roberts Obituary

DECATUR - Mary Frances Roberts, 87, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Decatur, died Friday (May 27, 2011). Fran, as she was known to all was born April 5, 1924, in Decatur, daughter of George Cast and Josephine Haher. She graduated from Decatur High, lived and worked in Chicago during W.W. II, and returned to Decatur where she married long time Decatur Herald and Review reporter and Editor Donald Wallace Roberts in 1952. She was a member of St. Patrick and St. James Parishes, and worked for the City of Decatur for many years until retirement. She enjoyed reading, travel, and volunteer work with her sister Joie at the Macon County Historical Society. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey A. Roberts and his wife, Leticia Lozano, of Houston Texas; daughter, Leslie J. Roberts, of Ann Arbor, MI, grandchildren Jason Roberts (San Antonio, Texas), Amanda Roberts (New York, NY), and Maureen McCord, (Ann Arbor, MI), and three nieces, Patricia Fear, Barbara Baker, and Nancy Carlyle, all Macon County residents. Funeral Liturgy will be 2 pm Friday, June 3, 2011 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Grant officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Macon County Historical Society or National Parkinson Foundation. The family of Mary Frances Roberts is being served by Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N.
