Melvin Barnett

DECATUR - Melvin Barnett, 83, of Decatur, passed away 1:00 am Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Pana, IL. Melvin was born on September 23, 1927 in Duncan, OK the son of George and Alma (Parish) Barnett. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Caterpillar and a member of the APA Pool League. He loved to be out and about with people. He also enjoyed buying and selling cars and was a huge Cubs fan. Surviving are his children, Brad Barnett of Decatur; Tracy Baum (Craig) of Decatur; grandchildren, Brendan, Justin, Sara, Colin, Kyle, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth Barnett, and one sister, Mildred Anderson. Funeral service celebrating the life of Melvin Barnett will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Resurrection Life Church.
