Melvin Barnett Obituary

DECATUR - Melvin Barnett, 83, of Decatur, passed away 1:00 am Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Pana, IL. Melvin was born on September 23, 1927 in Duncan, OK the son of George and Alma (Parish) Barnett. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Caterpillar and a member of the APA Pool League. He loved to be out and about with people. He also enjoyed buying and selling cars and was a huge Cubs fan. Surviving are his children, Brad Barnett of Decatur; Tracy Baum (Craig) of Decatur; grandchildren, Brendan, Justin, Sara, Colin, Kyle, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth Barnett, and one sister, Mildred Anderson. Funeral service celebrating the life of Melvin Barnett will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Resurrection Life Church. The family of Melvin Barnett is being served by Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, honored provider of Veterans Funeral Care, 2091 N. Oakland Avenue, Decatur, IL.
