Dearest Uncle Sandy,

For so many years you have Graced my Life with your LOVE, Kindness, Humor, Compassion, and Tender Loving Care. Thank You for holding my Heart when it needed to be held, especially when Dad passed through the veils. . . Your amazing generosity and compassion for your Brother, Dusty, and our Family was truly a remarkable, beautiful & memorable experience. . . from the new Coast Guard Ship that you organized for Dad's Memorial Service at Sea, to the days following that, by coming to our home in Miami Beach with Aunt Gladys and helping Mom and I empty out the house full of furniture & the attic filled with Christmas decorations that landed in your convertible car - as you & Aunt Gladys drove off with tears of laughter we could not hold back. . . I will never forget those days we shared together filled with so much love, laughter and tears of joy & sorrow.

Exactly one month ago to this day, on November 10th, we stood together at Arlington National Cemetary as a Beloved Family honoring you for all that you are and have been to each one of us, through all the days of our Lives. Both you and Dad have touched so many people's hearts, especially the hearts & soul of your family. Thank You for always being present in so many ways. You have honored all of us with your life, as we now honor you in your passing and death.

Love is eternal. The soul is eternal. And you have always seen more fully with the eyes of Love and acted upon each circumstance from that Gracious state of Consciousness. That alone is what made you so special. You never hesitated to express your Love, even when the moments were uncertain or perhaps even uncomfortable. You choose the high road with good humor, grace, and wisdom. . . even if you did not know it at the time. I have seen you do this, over your lifetime, and I am now in the Sacred Space of Honoring You, my Dearest Uncle Sandy for all your Goodness and Grace and so many Blessings upon my Life and the Life of our Precious Family.

Thank You for practicing everyday Miracles in such simple and beautiful ways.

I Love You. And I Love Aunt Gladys & my Cousins dearly. We shall all look out for each other.

Give Dad a big kiss from me when your ethereal body of Love meets with his in the Heavens.

Your Niece,
Rita Tanos

I remember when my mom worked for Capt. Tanos years ago as his secretary. He was a true gentleman who seemed to enjoy an inquisitive kid coming to visit. I had the pleasure to see Capt. Tanos again after several years when my grandma, great uncle, and I spent time with him and his lovely wife in Hawaii. They were a wonderful couple with such radiant personalities. My condolences to the Tanos family. The world has lost a beautiful soul.

I am so sorry to see that Sandy has passed from our world. He was a man who lived life to its fullest, enjoyed his time with us, and with his infectious childlike appreciation of fun showed us how we should cherish each day. I also had the great honor of supervising, at least for awhile, one of his greatest legacies to the Coast Guard, his daughter, Genelle. The world will not be as bright with his passing. Thanks for the memories, Sandy.

Gladys and the whole Tanos family and extended family,
Our deepest sympathy on the passing of one of the greatest persons to grace the planet Earth. Our friendship and close professional association in the 80s was nothing short of an absolute "HOOT"! Unforgettable times! The only golf partner Dick ever had...or ever will have. (We both scored in the low 140s.) What a great guy! He will, indeed, be missed. While serving as an officer of the Armed Forces Service Center, a Military Hospitality Lounge, (formerly operated by the USO of South Florida) Sandy was always available to help on any military related project. He was truly one of a kind and so sincere and helpful in all that he was involved with. He will certainly be missed as he was an integral part of our organization, as was his wife Gladys, who served for years as our Volunteer Coordinator. May he rest in peace. God be with you Gladys. We will be accepting donations in his name at the Armed Forces Service Center, PO Box 8014, Miami, FL 33299
