Lils, I remember the day I met you. We instantly bonded over our children's artwork. I felt so relieved every time I stepped into your office at the 4005th. It's been so long, but I still remember you. You were always so patient and kind. I was so stunned and devistatated when I heard you were killed in action. Honestly, I thought you'd live forever!! We are still so very proud of you!! We love you, and will never forget you. With honor and respect, I salute you, my fallen sister. I still can't believe you're gone. Until we meet again. SSG Hogan

This has been a long journey for me to finally find SSG Clamens and express my gratitude and deep appreciation for her kindness and bringing a sense of normalcy during a time of chaos while deployed in Iraq. I only knew SSG Clamens for a very short time, but was able to observe her very kind approach to other soldiers and her willingness to talk briefly with them and to me while we were in the waiting room at the TMC at Camp Liberty. She brought a feeling of calm, empathy and respect, which we all needed and I especially needed. I was a Battalion Commander at the time dealing with and compartmentalizing a lot of stress. She was a much needed calming influence. When she passed, I had no idea how much it would affect me. I hardly knew her, but she was a bright shining star in an otherwise foggy difficult time. I learned years later her loss was a triggering event for PTSD for me. It was one more loss I couldn't compartmentalize away. I finally came to grips with it in 2019. I have had a bracelet made in remembrance of her and reflect often upon the kindness she shared with many of us in 2007. She was an angel among us, and I shall always remember her and always be grateful. May god bless you, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. You were taken too soon but I will never forget you. Yours is a life well lived.

I finally made my own way and I'm in the process of completing my own family; me and my fiancé getting the same bachelors degree in graphic arts. She's a horticulturist like yourself. Not everyone knows, but you loved plants and animals you were just allergic to cats n dogs. But it was the roses you loved and Mom if you could see them; my fiancé and our daughter. I'm going home to be with them and face the world I left behind. It's harder than I imagined but it's what I need to do. I miss you and I just prayed on you. I love you mom! Watch me take on the world again! I won't be alone. <3

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Clamens Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in Afghanistan. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Staff Sgt. Lillian Clamens. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Lilly "Lucy",

The days have come and gone but there is not a moment in time that you are not on my mind. Tomorrow would be your birthday and I will try and visit you, if not I will be there first thing Saturday. The last time I wrote on here, I was starting college and now 5 years later, I graduated with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and started applying for law schools, today I received my acceptance letter and I wish you could have been here to share this exciting moment with you. We would always talk and you would encourage I follow my dreams. Now, a young woman, I have done exactly that, I am following my dreams! I miss you so much and I know you are always looking out for me. I love you big sister and I owe this all to you. Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to succeed. See you tomorrow SSG Clamens.

P.S: Remember when I said I will probably never get married again, Ha! I found the one!!! :) June 15th is the date! I know you will be there watching it all and giving me your 1 million dollar smile!

Its been 5 years and I still am not able to deal with the lost of my battle. Every October 10th is very hard for me and I miss her and always will. I keep saying to myself maybe I should've stopped her from leaving that night, maybe if she would've waited maybe 15 minutes longer she would be here today. We lost a wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, friend and my battle. I'm sorry Lillian. I'm truly am. I keep saying why her, we needed her here. Her smile alone could brighten the whole world. I guess heaven is smiling now. Keep smiling Lillian.....

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

>>to the family of Lilly, ....I was deployed with the 834 as well, just north of Baghdad, & do believe I met her briefly before deploying... can't say I know her well at all but would like to say that in war there are things we will never understand, & why one person is taken & another spared is known only in the eyes & heart of the Lord, where she is now, I pray....may you find grace & peace from our Lord Jesus from His Word & may you find the Good Shepherd's comfort....I was close to a couple of rockets/mortars in my three deployments(so far) & know that God has protected me, & I thank Him for those like Lillian who took the sacrifice for country seriously. I would like to have been there to give my tears at her memorial service in October 2007 & to give my support by being there for your family. ( SgtMarkMoberly formerly 3 / 834th CampTaji,Iraq )

To the family of Lilly...Although she only graced my life for a short period of time my heart aches at hearing of her passing. Our friedship was attained during our junior high and high school days at Lewis and Clark and Central. The one thing that I remember about Lilly was her amazing way of making me laugh. She had a smile that could turn anyones day around. She was truly a wonderful person. I am proud to say she was my friend. This world suffered a temendous loss when Lilly was taken from us. My husband and brother both served in Iraq and the sacrifice that our soldiers make to protect us can not be compared to anything. I just want everyone to know what an amazing person and friend Lilly was, even all those years ago..... Melisa Marmo

I knew Lillian pretty well, she was kind to all. I was stationed with her in Miami at SOUTHCOM. When ever I need paperwork done at the admin office I would always swing by Lillians office just to chat and have a luagh. She was and will always be an awsome person. She helped my out on so many issues. When I was going to ETS she convinced me to stay in or at least go reserve; Needless to say I decied to stay in after getting out for a couple of months and I plan on doing 20 at minimum.

I still can't beleive it to this day; You will be missed...

I know she didn't know me from Adam but i was the first medic there on that day. That day she became a part of my life and she will be a part of it until He calls for me. She and her family is and will be in me thoughts and prayers. I took me a long time to get on here and give her and her family my condolences. I have the utmost respect for someone that has paid the ultmate sacrifice to protect our country and our freedom. Rest in peace SSG Clamens.
