The Fallen Coastie

We protect people on the sea. We protect against threats directed from the sea, and we even protect the sea itself. What we can't protect is the loss of one of our own, a loss that always hurts horribly. Your aircrew mates and friends from USCG Air Station Miami who knew you all agree that they can rest easy now, knowing that when we get there, all the hard work will already be done.

Mark Palmeri, a man of his word, we all treasure the memories and are appreciative of our relationship with you dear shipmate. We also know another brother metal smith is in the heavens doing what he does best.

Buddy! Keep those crossed hammers polished, they truly have wings now. Death and all its fate and glory, he's one of those we'll never forget, the life he lived, the goals he set, the ones he loved, as he searches for a new address, a brand new home free of loneliness, for now he is not all alone, this fallen Coastie is welcomed home.

Our prayers go out to his family, let it be known that Mark was one of the most industrious, driven, hardest working , self starting persons to have ever walked the hanger decks of the busiest air and sea rescue unit in the world. He knew what he wanted and went for it, always pulled more than his weight, never backed out of any task.

Thanks for all the good times Mark.

Another good one left us - stand down Mark, you have completed your mission. God Bless, we salute you our brother.
