Bette Wiles Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 17, 2009.
Bette Jane Wiles, 83, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in Klamath Falls, Ore.
Bette was born on July 14, 1925, to John and Leola (Cooper) Dailey in Milwaukee, Wis.
At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Klamath Falls, where she attended Sacred Heart Academy, graduating in 1942.
She worked as a cashier for the Pine Tree, Tower, Esquire, Fox, and Pelican theaters.
She married Thetus "Coy" Wiles on June 16, 1943. They had two sons Dick and Dale. Bette was a stay-at-home mother until they were school age. She then worked for Klamath Falls City Schools as a cook in the cafeteria. Most of her working career was at Mills Elementary School. She later moved to Lucile O'Neill Elementary School as the cook manager. She was loved by all the students and staff and was well known for her cinnamon rolls.
Bette was very active in her younger years as a roller skater. She and Coy were members of the Merry Mixer square dance group. She also canned fruits and vegetables until the last few years of her life. Dinner at Grandma's was always filled with laughter and good food.
In addition, she was in many bowling leagues and loved watching the pros when they came to town. Bette and Coy were members of the Good Sam (Klamath Kampers) Club and spent many years camping with family and friends. After retirement, they became snowbirds, traveling to Yuma, Ariz.
Bette was a member of the North Side Garden Club, holding the office of treasurer for many years. She took care of her four great-grandchildren before they went to school. Knowing they were loved and well cared for made going to work easier for all of the family. The time they spent with "Nana B" was a treasure.
She is survived by her husband Thetus Coy Wiles; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Carol Wiles; granddaughter and husband Christy and Eric Wolford; grandson and wife David and Christie Wiles; great-grandchildren Justin Wiles, Alyssa McCue, Rebecca Wiles and Max Wolford; brother Jim Dailey; sister-in-law Rochelle Dailey; nephews and wives Rod and Rebecca Dailey and Marc and Eddie Otterbein; niece and husband Rhonda and Jim Luongo; niece Diane Otterbein; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dale Wiles, sister Dotty Otterbein, and brother Bob Dailey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Eternal Hills Funeral Home with graveside services to follow. Visitation is at Eternal Hills Funeral Home on Sunday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
