Archie Stumbaugh Obituary

Archie Stumbaugh passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka, Calif., from brain cancer.
Archie was born Aug. 30, 1936, in Dorris. He lived in Siskiyou County most of his life. He graduated from Butte Valley High School in 1954.
On Sept. 1, 1956, he married Darlene Enloe.
Archie worked various jobs in Butte Valley until he went into law enforcement as a Siskiyou County Deputy Sheriff. He worked as a deputy in the jail until he was assigned to the field, where he remained until he joined the California Highway Patrol. After graduation from the CHP Academy, he was assigned to the San Leandro area. Archie transferred to the Mount Shasta area, where he worked until he transferred back to Yreka. He remained in the Yreka CHP area until he retired in 1991.
Archie was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. He and Darlene also enjoyed traveling in their RV. They loved spending their summers in Crescent City, Calif., fishing in the ocean.
Survivors include Darlene, his wife of 55 years; his three children Shannon (Susan), Kurtis, and Leslie; four grandchildren Kaylob, Zackery and Tyson Stumbaugh and Rachel York; four great-grandchildren Harli, Khloe, Julia and Jeremey; brother Ronald (Lila) Stumbaugh; brother-in-law Carl (Thaya) Enloe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Clifford, his mother Hilda and a half-sister Sugar.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at the Yreka Church of the Nazarene. A luncheon will be held immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097.

We have been out of town and are so sorry to hear of Archie's passing. I have so many happy memories of working with Archie. He was just a wonderful guy and will be fondly remembered and missed. Our thoughts and prayers to Darlene and the rest of the family.
