Gordon Ballard Obituary

Gordon Arthur Ballard, who was born on July 9, 1942, in Sacramento, Calif., died on Jan. 16, 2017 in Sprague River, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Edward Ballard; his first wife, Sandra Marie VanSickle; and his second wife, MayBelle (Allen) Duran.
Survivors include his mother, Verna (Born) Ballard; sister, Linda and brother-in-law Mike Crespillo; third wife, Susan Massey Ballard; children, Bart Ballard (Bart), Teresa Ballard Messina (sis), Misty Ballard (Misser), Jay Ballard (Jaybird), and Casey (Cj); daughter-in-law, Cindy (Perry) Ballard; grandchildren, Courtney(Ballard) Young, Shariff Young, Chase, Chanaye and Camas Ballard, Kayla and Elley Messina and Blake, Tyson, Sami Ballard; great-grandchildren, Pollux and Rhea Young; as well as many cousins, his nieces, Kim Leonard and Kathy Flynn, great-nieces and great-nephew, Madison and Nicholas Leonard and Kaitlynn Flynn.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator. However, ranching was his passion and the career of his choice. His prized memories were of being a buckaroo. He loved spending time hunting, fishing and chasing the mustangs in the high desert. He enjoyed wild western lie stories and could often be heard saying cowboy quotes, Robert Service poetry and after a good shot of whiskey he would begin reciting "Tying a Knot in the Devil's Tail".
Gordy loved his family and will be greatly missed.
