Paula Robards

1921 - 2009

Paula Wisdom Robards, 88, passed away at Texoma Medical Center on Saturday, Oct. 24. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Dannel Funeral Home, with Dr. Tom Peel of First United Methodist Church officiating. The family will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Paula was a long-time resident of Sherman who had moved to Colbert, Okla. two years ago to be near her daughter. She was born to William and Katie Morgan Wisdom on March 16, 1921 in Loco, Okla. She married Harry Robards in 1942, and they moved to Sherman in 1954. After working in a variety of positions at Wilson N. Jones Hospital, Red River Historical Museum, and the Girl Scout office, she had retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sherman.
A devoted mother, she showed her love for her children by taking care to attend all of the programs and activities they participated in. She also enjoyed many activities with her grandchildren, such as playing cards with them.
Paula was preceded in death by her two sons, Harry Robards Jr. and John Steve Robards. Survivors include a daughter, Jan Rucker and husband, Fred of Colbert Okla.; two daughters-in-law, Marianne Robards of Keller and Linda Robards of Cedar Hill; nine grandchildren, Shannon Robards of Cedar Hill, Brandon Robards of Dallas, Logan and Katie Robards of Orange, Jana Farmer of Colbert, Kristy Nottingham and husband, Keith of Colbert, Haley, Reid and Joe Robards of Keller; and one great-grandchild, Rowdy Farmer of Colbert, Okla.; and a brother, Ray Wisdom of Ft. Worth.
