Weldon Nichols Obituary
Weldon was born August 24, 1923 in Gober, Texas, the son of Homer L. Nichols and Ruby Warnell Nichols. He was a graduate of Gober High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific Theater with the 44th General Hospital medical detachment. Weldon married Lyda Atnip, June 1, 1946 in Bonham, and she preceded him in death, April 9, 2011.
Weldon was a retired traffic control manager for General Cable and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a 60-year member of Constantine Masonic Lodge 13 in Bonham, and also a member of the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Weldon is survived by two sons, W. Craig Nichols (Betty) of Bonham and Ricky Nichols (Iris) of Denison; two sisters-in-law, Edna Collins of Bonham and Betty McSpedden of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Michael Nichols, Tammy Woods, Amy Williams, Melody Jaffrey, and Tiffany Powell; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Nichols, Joe Powell, Eddie Brister, Randy Warnell, William Collins and Ray Atnip. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Nutt, James Wood, Charles Atnip, John Atnip and John Collins.
Memorials may be made to Moores Chapel Cemetery Assn., 2510 W. FM 898, Bonham, TX 78418, or a charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6 -8 p.m. Sunday. Online guest register www.wisefuneralhome.com.

I am so sorry to hear about Weldon's passing. He was a classmate of my mother, Geneva Carlton Atnip, and he was married to my daddy's (James Edward Atnip)cousin. I know this was doubly hard to lose two loved ones so close together, and I send my sincere sympathy.
