Sylvia Hightower Obituary

SADLER – Funeral services for Sylvia Alene Hightower, 77, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Twith Rev. Rick Carney assisted by Rev. John Gowling officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sadler Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 -8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the funeral home.

She passed way on May 15, 2012 in Sherman.

Sylvia was born on December 7, 1934 to Hampton C. and Eula M. (Brown) Fowler in Cooke County. She married James Hightower on September 19, 1951 in Sherman. She was a member of the Sadler United Methodist Church. She was a retired mail carrier for the United States Post Office. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid fisherman.

She is survived by her husband, James Hightower, of Sadler; son, Jimmy Ray Hightower of Sadler; daughters, Patricia Miles and husband Greg of Whitesboro, and Terri Furey and husband Jim of Sadler; grandchildren, Austin Miles and wife Jessica, Katie Miles of College Station, Randel Furey of Sadler; her brother, Ray Fowler of Denton; sisters, Alice Fay Melton and Jan Fowler, both of Sadler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hampton and Eula Fowler; her sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Ted Dutton; brothers, Kenneth Wayne Fowler; and brother-in-law, Ronald Melton.

Her family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of Traditions Senior Living and Home Hospice of Grayson County, both of Sherman.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Woods, Gene Deckerd, Billy Don Smith, Marvin Clay, Sephen Hightower, Royce Fowler, and Phil Furey. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Sadler Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn: Donor Services, P. O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.

James and family,
Sis is finally at peace, not hurting, and probably fishing on the a beautiful lake in Heaven. She was always so kind and she loved all of you so much. God bless and sustain your family during this time of grief and remember the many many memories of her in the time ahead.
