Thirty years ago Betty took me into her heart and treated me like a daughter. She was Grandma to my girls from day one. She was my friend, my role model, my confident, my prayer warrior. We had so much fun and laughs over tea, chatting on the phone, getting supplies for the shoeboxes, or having dinner. So many of our memories include her. She will always be in my heart and I miss her so much. There is a big empty spot without her. I love you "Udder Mudder". Love and prayers family members at this time. Peace in knowing she is in a better place.

Grandma Betty was one of the most inspirational and special women in my life. She was exactly what Websters would describe as a grandma. She was always there for my school plays, concerts, and the "Bring a Grandparent to School days", always encouraging, supporting and loving me. She taught me to sew and bake the best chocolate chip cookies you could imagine. She made me more responsible, because you'd never want to disappoint grandma! Through the years, as I got older, she became more than just my grandma, but my friend. I love her so dearly and she will be forever missed! Grandma, I miss you and love you always!!!

Many a night growing up we would be at "Aunt Betty's and Uncle Art's" house. They were very good friends of my parents. Every time I make it back home I make a point to go visit Betty. I loved her deeply and looked up to her as someone I hoped that I could be like later in life. I hope I can achieve that goal! She will always be a role model to me and my hero. I would like to thank her for touching my life.

Betty Land and her husband, Art, were my Free Methodist Youth group leaders when I was a teenager. She prayed for me then and she continued to pray for me and later for my husband, our children, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a prayer warrior. God truly has a sense of humor since 24 years ago I began an adult Sunday School class and for the past 24 years Betty has been in my class. Can you imagine how intimidating it is to teach spiritual giants? But these saints have been faithful to each other and to me particularly and I shall miss Betty. God, who is gracious, gave me this Scripture which I wish to share with family and friends. Isaiah 57:1-2 says: The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.

These words comfort my heart but I will miss Betty until such time as I see her again. But the influence she has had on my life will remain forever.

Betty was such an influence in my early Christian life... a role model and a mentor. It will be a wonderful reunion when I get to see her again in heaven!
