Eli G. Pennell

Eli Gene Pennell Eli Gene Pennell, age 77, passed away at home in Snohomish, Wash., on the farm where he lived for 71 wonderful years. Born in Baldwin Park, California in 1938 to Joseph and Dora Pennell, Eli enlisted in the United States Navy at age 20 for three years of service. He joined the Navy in hope of seeing the world. It was a long-standing joke when he ended up stationed on Whidbey Island! Eli and his wife of 58 years, Norma Pennell, were married on December 21,1957. Retired from Scott Paper Company in Everett after 29 fruitful years, Eli had a passion for travel and he and Norma loved visiting places around the world, even passing through the Panama Canal. As a private pilot, he also owned several airplanes throughout the years and once flew above the Arctic Circle. Eli is also survived by his sister, Fern Pennell; his son, Alan Pennell (wife Debbie); his daughters, Elaine Pennell, and Barb Hendee (husband John); his grandchildren, Jessica Pennell, Joseph Pennell, and Jaclyn Zappone; his great-grandchild, Harper Zappone; and many lifelong friends. In lieu of a service, and at Eli's request, a celebration of life will be held for family and friends. Eli's wish was that all who attend wear casual and happy attire.
