I will miss Jeannie's wonderful smile, her fearless attitude and her purple obsession. Every time I see a dahlia, I think of Jeannie and Gordie. It has been an honor knowing both of them.

I Had Jeanie as one of my teachers at Olivia Park School when I was the principal there. Jeanie was a top of the line teacher. She was always prepared with her lessons and gave each child her utmost attention. Her soft kind mannerism went a long way with her students. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to have had her on my staff.

I will deeply miss Jeannie's friendship, smile and clever, caring conversation. She talked about her family a lot. She always looked very forward to holiday get-togethers, or having you over to visit. Her love for you was so evident.
The time we spent together was precious to me. She often made me laugh, and never ceased to amaze me with her quiet bravery and strength. I am honored to have found a friend such as Jeannie, and she will live in my heart forever.

I have so many wonderful memories of Gordie and Jeannie. They were my mentors as I became interested in Dahlias more than 25 years ago. That interest led to a life-long friendship with two of the best people I will ever know. Gordie was generous with his knowledge and with his dahlias. Often when we had our annual tuber sale he would quietly come over to where I was sitting and slide a couple of his special cuttings under my chair. I felt so honored that he trusted me with the latest and greatest as long as I agreed not to give them away. Gordie and Jeannie were the heart of the Snohomish County Dahlia Society.
Jeannie was such a special lady it's hard to put it into words. She was kind, warm, funny and head over heels in love with her family. We in her "Dahlia Family" felt we knew Lisa, Tonya and Chad personally. When the great nieces and nephews started coming Jeannie became more than a great-aunt; she was more like a doting grandmother. She loved you all so much.
Through all of Jeannie's health struggles she kept her head high and fought like a trooper. She was a shining example of what we all should be. I remember when she quit smoking and how hard it was for her. She won that battle.
Jeannie and I shared the same favorite color. I remember when she got her little purple car and how excited she was. Her house was drenched in purple and populated with frogs! Maybe there are purple frogs where she is now.
Rest in peace my dear dear friends. It was an honor to know you and love you. You will be missed every day. Love, Karen

Jeannie was a gracious hostess on numerous occasions when Hannah and I visited the Leroux home and garden on a hilltop in Everett. Jeannie's signs and invitations to the bees added a special touch to go with Gordie's amazing dahlias and especially seedlings. My favorite photo of Hannah and me is one that Jeannie took and sent to us around 2000 -- in the midst of the thousands of dahlias blooming in their backyard. Jeannie will long be in our memories and prayers.
