Lewis J. Pearson
Lewis J. Pearson, 82, passed away at Sunrise View Retirement Villa in Everett, WA on Sunday, February 20, 2011, surrounded by family and friends.
He had been a long time resident of Edmonds and, for the past two years, had been living at Broadway Plaza in Everett.
Lewis was born September 8, l928 in Sioux Falls, SD. He was the oldest of three sons born to Lewis A. and Linda M. (Smothers) Pearson.
Lewis, along with his mother and two brothers, moved to Seattle in 1942 where he later attended Ballard High School. He returned to Sioux Falls where he worked for Clements Studebaker Co.and became active with his father in race car circles. Upon returning to Seattle in 1951, he worked at Fort Lawton and at Boeing.
In 1961, he went to work for Eldec Corp. where he met his wife, Irene, and became a stepfather to her daughter, Patrica Middleton, and stepfather to Howard ("Jackie"). He also became a grandpa to Patty's children, Doug, Scott and Mike.
Lew worked for Eldec for 30 years retiring in l990 as a Senior Production Planner.
He was very involved with family activities, especially the grandsons' sports and Jackie's participation at Work Opportunities. He continued his interest in racing with the building and racing stock cars at Skagit Valley race track and attending races at Evergreen Speedway. Along with his father, Lew attended many of the Indianapolis Memorial Day races and continued to attend after his father's passing with family members and friends. For the last several years, he enjoyed watching NASCAR races, the Mariners and Seahawks.
Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; father, Lewis (Grace); mother, Linda White; and step-daughter, Patricia.
Lewis is survived by brothers, Robert E. Luckey of Poulsbo, WA; Allan L. White (Janice) of Everett; Ray A. Pearson (Laura) of Sioux Falls; stepson, Howard Thompson; and grandsons, Doug, Scott and Mike. Lewis ("Papa") also leaves the shining light in his life, his great-granddaughter, Katherine Middleton ("Katie") of Everett; and her two daughters, Larissa and Kizzianna; and great-grandson, Austin. Papa and Irene ("Nana") lovingly cared for Katie since she was an infant. Also missing Lew are nieces, Wendy, Cathy, Jenny and Sarah; and nephews, Allan, Dan and Mike.
A celebration of Lewis' life will be held March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy in Everett.
Interment to follow at Accacia Memorial Park Cremetory and Funeral Home, 14951 Bothell Way NE in Seattle.
