Marion Hegnes Obituary

Marion Alma Jones Hegnes

Marion Alma Jones Hegnes, 65, was born December 4, 1945 in Everett, WA and passed away March 21, 2011. She was a life-long resident of Tulalip, WA.
Marion married her husband, Dennis, on October 8, 1968 and they created a happy and content life together. The centerpiece of her life was her family, whom she loved very much. Marion had a very caring and generous nature. She is loved and will be missed by many.
As a young woman, Marion loved playing softball and was a proud member of the Angels softball team for several years. Marion was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for 17 years and then worked at the Tulalip Liquor Store and Smoke Shop for 22 years. She was also a fisherwoman for 17 years, net setting behind the longhouse on Tulalip Bay.
Marion loved the ocean, the beach, and the mountains. She would often take spur of the moment trips to the coast and mountains, and collected sand from beaches and sites around the world. She also loved to travel to Reno, which she visited often with her sisters.
In addition to her husband, Marion shared her life with her sons, Dennis Lee and Pieper, Donald and Belinda; and her daughter, Denise; grandchildren, Amanda, Katerina, Nolan, and Emily Hegnes, and Skylor Fryberg; sister, Lillian and Franco Gomez; special brother, David "Brober" Spencer, Sr.; nieces and nephews, Doreen and Pete Sieminski, Daniel Jones, Boyd Jones, Michelle and Jubal Schmaus, David Spencer, Jr., Danelle Loera, Alicia and Jose Amador, Juan Gomez, and Viola Gomez; a large extended family and many friends.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, William "Duke" Jones and Lillian Charles Jones; in-laws, Clay and Lois Hegnes; brothers, Frankie Charles, Donald "Dukie" Jones, Emmett Jones; and two infants; sister, Viola Jones Spencer; sister-in-law, Rosemary "Posie" Cross Jones; grandson, Jaylend Hegnes; nieces, Janel Spencer and Dawn Shirley Spencer; and nephew, Lloyd Jones.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, followed by interfaith services at 6:00 p.m. at the Tulalip Tribal Gym. Funeral will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tulalip Tribal Gym, immediately followed by burial at Mission Beach Cemetery.

I will miss you so much. You taught me many things I will always cherish, remember and use in my daily life. You were the mother of the liquor store and we, your children. Thats the way you treated all of us. You also taught us many things about life and people. You treated all people special and had a special place for people that weren't as fortunate as we are and you reminded us that daily to be thankful for what we have. I thank you for being such a special and important part of my life. You were always there to care and take care of me (us). Your words of wisdom will live on and the love will be in my heart forever. Marion, you are the best! I love you and I will miss you.

To Marion's Family, I extend my deepest sympathy at your loss. I went to school with Marion and knew her to be a terrific person. At one point, when my father was in the hospital, she was one of his nurses. It has been sometime since I have seen Marion, but I will always remember her as being a very kind and caring person, and we will be that much richer for having known her.
