Charles Wynne Obituary

Charles Albert Wynne "Chuck"

Born in Seattle on June 17, 1938, at age 72, after living his whole life in the Pacific Northwest Chuck passed away peacefully in his Edmonds home surrounded by his loving family.
Graduating from Roosevelt High he went on to complete his Associates Degree in Management Phi Beta Kappa at Edmonds Community College. At 18 years old he began his career at Pacific Northwest Bell. Early in his career he also devoted six years to the Coast Guard reserves. As a Central Office Technician he retired after over 45 years and spent much of his retirement traveling the world with his wife Addie Wynne and visiting with friends and family.
Chuck's hobbies included exploring new technology, traveling, boating, fishing, RVing, and attending car shows. Each night, after dinner, he could always be found finishing his latest crossword puzzle. With his love of new technology, he was often using one of his many computers or new gadgets. He was often inventing new ways to solve old problems and went on to outfit his summer home with cameras that streamed video over the internet, install alarms for his home, and even lights that turn on when passing. He held a library full of videos of his grandchildren and photographs from holidays, vacations, and gatherings with friends and family. He often spoke of classic cars from the pink Cadillac he once owned as a teenager to the new ones he ogled over at the dealerships and car shows. He enjoyed taking his Sea Ray boat out on the Puget Sound to fish for salmon and travel to the many harbors that lined its waters.
What Chuck will be known most though was for his great sense of humor. No one could meet him without hearing at least one of his more recent jokes. He would even call radio stations to add his comments and would ponder submitting his latest joke to Jay Leno.
A true do-it-yourself man, Chuck built a summer home with his own hands. Always at the ready, his friends and family would often call upon his expertise to help with whatever repairs they needed. He was never too shy to strike up conversation with complete strangers whenever and wherever he might be. He was most passionate around informed conversations about current events, politics and religion. He always knew there had to be a higher being to explain this world and never believed the theories of evolution could explain this world.
One year ago, while vacationing in Palm Springs, Chuck's speech began to slow. It was not long afterward when his speech was taken from him completely. Doctors soon learned that ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) was the cause. Over the last year, the disease proceeded to take away his ability to walk then on April 4, 2011 it took his breath away.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Addie, of 45 years; two sons, Tom and Steve (Teresa); four grandchildren: Joshua, Kayla, Crystal and Amber; along with his sister, Mimi Rice.
Viewing will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 1-4 p.m. at Beck's Funeral Home at 405 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds, WA; 425-771-1234. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at 11 a.m. at Edgewood Baptist Church, 20406 76th Ave W, Edmonds, WA; followed by burial services at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Washelli at 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA. A celebration of his life will be held at his home following burial services.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers "in Honor of Chuck Wynne for ALS Research" to The ALS Association Evergreen Chapter, 19115 68th Avenue S #H-105, Kent, WA 98032.

David and Mimi Rice

April 11, 2011

Mimi and I feel blessed to have had the time with Chuck and Addie last May, here at our home in Palm Desert. We cherish the time that we spent together while Chuck was in good health. We are so sorry that his life had to come to and end so quickly. Chuck was a man of many talents, one of them specifically was computer technology....in fact I am typing this note today because of the work that Chuck did on our computer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Addie and kids and family.
May Chuck rest in peace.
With love always,
Mimi and David Rice
