Anthony Neary Obituary

Anthony Brian Neary

Anthony Brian Neary, 89, died peacefully on January 29, 2012 with family and friends at his bedside, in PS We Love Seniors adult foster home in Corvallis, Or.
Tony was born in Ardee, Co. Louth, Ireland to Owen and May (Hogan) Neary. He left Ireland at the age of 26, in search of adventure and opportunity in Canada, and later, the USA. He settled in Everett, WA in 1954, where he owned and operated a commercial fishing business. He fished in Bristol Bay, Alaska in the summer season and in the Puget Sound when Alaska was too inhospitable. He retired in 1984.
In late 2010, he moved to Corvallis to be close to his niece. Tony enjoyed reading, current events, travel and recreational gambling. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Catholic Church.
He was lovingly served by Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in the last three months of his life.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; and one brother.
He is survived by his niece, Catherine Neary of Corvallis; and numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces in Ireland, UK and other far-flung places from Canada to Australia.
At his request, Tony;s ashes will be scattered in the Puget Sound. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the care of Twin Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice are suggested.
