Ellen Louise (Tegtmeier) Bangs

Ellen Louise (Tegtmeier) Bangs, 89, passed away at home on July 24, 2013. She was born on April 26, 1924 in Everett, WA to Fred Tegtmeier and Edna Cooke.
Ellen attended all the Everett schools and graduated from Everett High School in 1942. After graduation she and a friend moved to California and worked at an insurance company for five years. She returned to Everett to attend Cornish School of the Arts and graduated in Interior Design and Decorating. Her first job was at a furniture company in Seattle where she met Gordon Bangs. They were married in 1952 and lived in Shoreline until 1961. Gordon and Ellen then moved, with their three children, to the Maplewood area in Edmonds. In 1966 the Edmonds School District began employing "teaching aides" and she worked in the Title I project for 22 years as an education assistant. She was also very involved in the Boy Scout program for 19 plus years.
Ellen loved to volunteer at the elementary level and for the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center ("The Log Cabin"). Her hobbies were planting and tending her flowers, making porcelain dolls and quilting. But the primary love of Ellen's life was her family and home.
Ellen is survived by son, Jim; son, Pete (Judy); daughter, Nancy (Klay); and two lovely granddaughters, Sara and Alyssa.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Gordon, parents, and a brother, Pete Tegtmeier.
The family would like to thank Dr. Timothy Little, Elaine and his staff at the Kruger Clinic, the nurses on the 5th and 6th floor of Swedish-Edmonds Hospital, and Jan Flom for the kind, compassionate care they gave our Mom during her illness.
At Ellen's request, there will be no services.
