Betty Jaeger Obituary

Betty Jean Jaeger
(Marquardt)

Our mother, Betty Jean Marquardt Jaeger, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2011.
Born in Belt, MT on June 19, 1925, she moved to the Seattle area in her childhood, graduating from Queen Anne High School. Even before graduation, she began a career with the Seattle School District, eventually serving in secretarial roles at Sacajawea, Lake City, and Loyal Heights elementaries before retiring in 1985. She was a devoted fisherman's wife, marrying Sigfryed Jaeger in 1948 and raising five children in the family home on Haller Lake in Seattle. The challenges were many, nurturing five children while managing a household when our Dad was in Alaska fishing for months at a time. Although a stern disciplinarian, there was never a shortage of love and the occasional swift swat on our rear ends to let us know just how much she cared. Mom was also very active in the square/round dance community in King and Snohomish counties.
Predeceased by Sigfryed in 1985; sister, Rosemary Grimm, in 1996; and daughter, Andrea, in 2008.
Survived by sons, Eric (Carol) Jaeger, Seattle, and Paul Jaeger, Mukilteo; daughters, Ardelle (Rich) Dennis, Everett, and Alison (Paul) Gjefle, Richland; beloved grandchildren, Chelsea (fiance Cassidy) Jaeger, Kaylin Bailey, Andrew Jaeger, Marina Ruckhaber, Alexa Dennis, Kendra Gjefle, and Hayden Ruckhaber; nephew Tom (Cheryl) Grimm, Arlington; and numerous cousins.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Nursing Home at Silver Lake for the loving care given to both our Mom and sister through the last years of their lives.
A family memorial celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Remembrances may be made to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County or the National MS Society.
