Frances Harris Obituary

Frances Anne Harris
(Qualey Granholm)

Frances Harris, 73, died at home at Port Susan Camping Club with family members at her side on March 26, 2011. She was born December 23, 1937.
She leaves behind her daughter, Debbie Hartman; son, Bob Granholm; stepson, Dale Rue; and her two beloved granddaughters, Karen (James) Murray and Kristen Hartman. She is survived by her two brothers, Richard (Doris) Qualey and Henry (Tonna) Qualey; many nieces, nephews, extended family and much loved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Harris; sisters, Iva Ketchum and Sylvia Andersen; and brothers, Edwin Qualey and Lawrence Qualey.
Fran was very proud of graduating from North Seattle Community College with her Pharmacy Technician degree. She had a vast knowledge of drugs and their effects and took great joy in sharing that information with others. She enjoyed working with the staff at Cascade Valley Hospital until her retirement several years ago.
Fran was secretary for many bowling leagues. She loved her bowling friends and the friendly competition.
Fran lived life on her own terms and fought cancer with the same determination.
A remembrance of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Legion Hall at American Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd, Everett, WA 98201. At her request, there will be a big 'ole Norwegian potluck.

Aunt Fran loved to talk. One day she called just as mom and I were starting to can a couple crates of peaches. By the time they got off the phone, I was done canning peaches. I am glad I got the opportunity to be one of her "brats" and I will miss her much - tie one on for me Aunt Fran, okay? And may you and gramma have many many roadtrips on the other side and good visits with everyone! Love, Margo

Amidst a family of unique individuals, Auntie Fran was one of a kind. There has never been and will never be another quite like her. She is and will be, sadly missed.

I went to spend the weekend with Auntie Fran when I was probably 9 or 10. That was the weekend I learned there was a correct way to use measuring cups and then there was my way. I probably drove the poor woman crazy, but I had a great time. A bond was formed for me that weekend that I hadn't felt before. I still have the china set she gave me for graduation and many fond memories of her. I am, and will always be, proud to be her bratty niece.

No one loved us more than Auntie Fran. It just took some of us awhile to figure it out!
