Hazel Schulberg Obituary


Hazel Louise Schulberg

Hazel Louise Schulberg passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus April 8, 2011 at the family home near Sedro-Wooley, WA. She was born in Ballard, WA on July 10, 1914 to John and Jette Rommen on December 11, 1936. Hazel married Riedar Martin Schulberg. They moved to Edmonds, WA in 1945 where they raised their three children Wesley, Joanne and David. After working 25 years for the Edmonds School Dist. as a manager-supervisor in Food Services, she retired in 1976. Hazel was a member in the Everett Thelma Lodge of the Daughters of Norway.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and John Thomson; son and daughter-in-law, David and Peggy Schulberg; daughter-in-law, Sharon Schulberg; nine grandchildren; and 14 grandchildren.
She was a truly loving friend and confidant to her family, extended family, many friends and acquaintances.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Riedar; granddaughter, Jodi Thomson Dickson; son, Wesley; brothers, Edward Rommen; sister, Olga Rommen Johnson; and her precious step-mother, Louise Marie Larson Rommen Enoch.
There will be an open house in celebration of Hazel's life from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on April 30, 2011 at the family home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances to Hospice of the NW, 819 S. 13th St., Mount Vernon, WA 98274.

My dearest Mama Schulberg, how your smile would always warm my heart. You were truely a class act that is rarely seen these days. I thank you for all your prayers for Erica and I and will miss you dearly. You are always on mind and always will be as I am reminded of you daily when I am working with one of your favorite things...See's Candy! She was the sweetest lady, in the short time I knew her, I really enjoyed her friendship, her kindness and most of all the biggest hugs.....I can see her hugs being spread all around heaven.....I will be there one of these days Hazel, to collect mine.....Love and prayers to all of her family.
